This is a collage I created of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi from Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Referencing the high contrast black and white photos from an article in Wired Magazine, I created the illustration in pencil on 14" x 17" drawing paper. To create a more photo-like look I used a blending stump to smudge the pencil lines to take advantage of pencil’s subtlety that you lose with pen and ink.
