This is the published illustration I created of Marvel Comics character Juggernaut which accompanied my “senior will” in a special issue of Smoke Signals. The “wills” were purchased on a per word basis with a maximum of about 250 words, so that the issue didn’t turn into a phone book. Since the senior wills issue is always the least aesthetically pleasing issue of the year, the previous year I created a two page comic book involving a popular teacher and Freddy Krueger. I convinced the editor to give me two full pages (free of charge) to create “something artistic”. Probably being the only student from West High to ever win an award in the Columbia Scholastic Press Association competition (see Sean Connery Illustration) a few weeks earlier didn’t hurt either. The unseen other page contains Juggernaut’s fist smashing through the page disrupting the print of my “will”.
